Drainage remedies are a form of Detox remedy that come from the European tradition known as Biological Medicine. European Biological Medicine is a form or European Naturopathic Medicine that pre-dates the practice of Naturopathy in the US. Under the tenants of European Biological Medicine all chronic disease arises from an increase in the body’s overall toxic load. As we become more toxic (from infections, food, water, air, cosmetics, etc) our organs and immune system begin to break down and can no longer cope with the increasing burden. Toxins impair our body’s ability function optimally. By supporting our organs of detox, Drainage remedies help reverse the toxic load of the body and restore healthy functioning to the body.
Drainage remedies are natural, energetic (homeopathic), complex combination remedies that are organ specific. When we use the remedies that are specific to our organs of Detox (Liver, Kidney, Lymphatic system and GI tract) we are supporting our body’s ability to process and eliminate toxins. These remedies are foundational to my practice and form the bedrock of any treatment protocol designed to heal and re-establish self regulation in a person’s body.
The majority of these types of remedies are produced in Europe and difficult to obtain in the US. FDA regulations, FTC marketing restrictions and customs make shipping and marketing within the US very difficult for these European companies. Selling only through practitioner’s or avoiding the US market all together is usually how these companies operate.
My favorite all time brand is a company called Soluna operating out of Germany. Soluna has been in production for over 100 years and produces the highest quality European drainage remedies on the market. Soluna remedies are not sold in the US and can only be purchased through an online German pharmacy.
